911 Checking In with Our First Responders
Cornwall Fire Services
with Chief Jeff Weber
Cornwall Fire Services doesn’t take a holiday – our two bases are staffed 24 hours a day,
seven days a week, all year long. Platoons will be working on Christmas Eve, throughout Hanukkah, on Bodhi
Day, Yule – you get the idea!
Firefighters are always ready to respond. If there’s an emergency, call 911. Even better, though, take steps this
holiday season to prevent fires!
In the kitchen: cooking and drinking don’t mix (cooking and smoking cannabis don’t mix, either). Stay in the
kitchen while you’re cooking, and ensure children are kept a safe distance from the stove.
Decorations: let’s go flameless! Try battery-operated candles. Keep decorations one metre away from space heaters.
Extension cords: these helpful cords are for temporary use only. Don’t run them under rugs. Avoid overloading outlets.
However you choose to celebrate this holiday season, please do so safely.
