Connor Carriere
Grade: 12
School: École secondaire La Citadelle
Since taking his first steps, Connor Carriere has been
involved in one sport or another. Now in Gr. 12,
hockey and lacrosse are the sports that he concentrates
on playing at a competitive level. “I’ve played for
the Seaway Valley AA Rapids and the Charlan B-Rep
Rebels for hockey, and for the Cornwall Celtics
for lacrosse. This year, I will be playing Junior C
lacrosse.”
Carriere thinks playing sports is important for youth.
“You get to play with friends and make new ones.
You get to travel and compete. Playing sports keeps
you busy and out of trouble. You learn to work with
others, and you stay in shape.”
When it comes to sports, Carriere likes the physicality and competition of them. He
admires Alex Ovechkin who plays a physical game of hockey. “He has a good shot and
is physical. I like to play a physical game, whether it’s lacrosse or hockey.”
Carriere is also an outdoor sports enthusiast. He hunts and fishes with his parents, Wanda
and Serge, and older brother, Colby. It’s not unusual to see a post of Carriere with a big
catch or a turkey or two on Wanda’s social media profiles.
A secondary student at ESLC, Carriere enjoys Phys. Ed., shop classes, and co-op most.
He will be graduating from high school at the end of June, and he is looking forward to a
career as a carpenter. “I would be very happy being a Jack of all Trades,” he says.
