December’s Game On athlete is young Jack Poitras. A
hockey and football player, Jack would like to make
the NHL, or the CFL, or the NFL some day. He would
also like to be a firefighter, just like his dad.
Jack has been playing hockey since the age of four. He plays goalie for the Char-Lan Rebels
U13 Rep team where he has fun, makes friends, and comes up with the big saves. “My goal
is to keep getting better and better, to make the highest level I can, and to play forever,”
Jack explains.
This young athlete has also been hitting the gridiron for the last three years, most recently
with the Cornwall Wildcats Football Mosquito team, where he plays on the defensive line
primarily, and sometimes on the offensive line and on special teams as needed. Jack likes
the contact football provides, and he likes getting to be a little rough - sacking the quarter-
back, the team aspect of the sport, and making friends. His goal is to continue to get better,
to keep practicing and to win the provincial championship.
Jack’s most notable accomplishments in football include finishing the 2023 season 10-0 in
NCAFA league play and competing and finishing second at the Ontario Football Fall Cup
provincial championship in November. As for hockey, it’s making the rep team with Char-
Lan for the last two years.
