Glengarry Highlanders Midget B Win Gold in Oshawa

        By Staff Writer

n the Oshawa Girls 17th Annual Fall Classic,
Ithe Highlanders finished first in their pool with
convincing wins over Bancroft (4-1), Toronto
Leaside (5-0), Durham West (4-1), and Niagara (2-
0.) In the championship game, against Gloucester
from their own ODWHA division, the final score
was 1-0. As a group, the Highlanders outworked
their opponents and were rewarded with a
championship banner which will hang proudly in
the Glengarry Sports Palace in Alexandria. The
young girls are extremely proud to be a part of the
        Glengarry Highlanders organization and displayed
this in their outstanding on-ice demonstration of
        teamwork.
“It was a total group effort” said Head Coach
        Ryan Winter.

Goaltending was stellar, when called upon, the
blue line controlled the flow of all the games with
great offensive pressure, and their anticipation led
to quick transitions which created many offensive
opportunities. Forwards skated hard, created a lot
of pressure down low, and battled hard in dirty
areas. If the group continues on this path it will
be an exciting season. All of the girls left the rink
                                                                                           Glengarry Highlanders Midget B
