meet team Slovakia.

finishing their “player vs parent”
Christmas game as team Slovakia

their team practice. Understanding
that team Slovakia is here in
Canada preparing for the IIHF
World Junior Championships, the
Typhoons could not pass up the
chance at a team photo. It’s not
every day that you can share the
ice with world class talent and
future NHL players.
The Midget AA girls would
like to thank the members of
team Slovakia and the coaching
staff for taking a few moments
of their practice time for a team
photo. This is a hockey memory

Steve Tait: Coach of the
NGS Minor Midget Rep Team “Lifetime warranty on brake pads”
Through December 9th-11th, the NGS Minor Midget
Rep team played in the 4th Annual Rep B
Jacques “Coco” Lemay Tournament in Clarence Creek/
Rockland. Saturday morning gameplay found the Braves
up against the West Ottawa Golden Knights; a team
ranked quite high and expected to win their games easily.
“The game was a game of a lifetime!” exclaims Steve
Tait, coach of the NGS team.
The Braves went ahead 1-0 in the first period on a beauty
cross-ice feed from winger Xandre Seguin from Kurt
Alexander to line mate Carter Tait. But then the NGS
squad found themselves in penalty trouble during the “ We won’t be undersold on brakes”
second period and they gave up 3 power-play goals to the Knights. The Braves now trailed 3-1.
Coach Tait recalls that the game looked over, as the boys had lost their edge, but then NGS scored
a short-handed goal and the team again picked up their step.
When Assistant Coach Chris Fraser, suggested pulling the Braves goalie Merek Clement at the
2:30 mark, Tait decided they would wait and see if the Knights would give NGS an icing resulting
in a face-off in their end. “Sure enough, we get exactly that at the 1:36 mark!” states Tait.
Alexander, Tait, and Seguin press with the extra man and the game is tied up at 3, with a goal from
Seguin. “This kind of stuff we dream up in plays from the bench, but very seldom do they work
out on the ice. We couldn’t believe it,” recounts Tait. 711 Pitt Street,
It looked like the game would end in a tie since there was only 57 seconds left on the clock. And
then, the icing on the cake…NGS scores again at 17 seconds. “It was a carbon copy of the first CORNWALL
goal. Alexander to Seguin who flies down the wing and feeds Tait cross-ice and he puts it past 613-932-2584
their goalie. Unbelievable! You always want to play games like that.” describes Tait.
The NGS Braves won the game 4-3.
