Graham Vickers
Graham was born and raised in Montreal. During his
formative years he played hockey, handball, racquetball,
squash, fastball, and did alpine skiing. He was a member
of the Laurentide Racing Club and competed in regional
races throughout Quebec, then advanced to national events in
Vancouver, Gimli, Manitoba, Mosport, and Mont Tremblant.
He won the Canadian National Championship twice in the
under two-litre sedan/sports car division.
During this time Graham was the Service Manager for the
Quebec car dealership for Volvo, Fiat, and Lotus. Graham
and his wife, Linda, moved from Montreal to Alexandria
where they raised their family. During this time he coached and managed an AA hockey team
and was on the board for minor hockey. His hockey affiliation lasted about ten years.
Graham and Linda continued to alpine ski and introduced their children, Jason and Lori, to
the sport at a young age. Their favourite hills were Morin Heights and St. Sauveur. During
the school March Break, for over ten years, the family would participate in the Snow Eagle
Ski School at the Grey Rocks Resort, Tremblant. Graham’s career changed to senior buyer
for Wonder Bra Canada with his office in Montreal. Then he was offered V.P. of Sales and
Marketing for Britex, with its sales office in Montreal and their factory in Nova Scotia; an
exciting career that took Graham to many North American and European cities. During these
years Graham continued to be active in sports. When he found out about OSGA 55+ events in
District 8 he became interested. Graham joined the Board in 2010 and has held the treasurer,
president, and past-president positions. He is the convener for prediction cycling, alpine skiing,
and golf and continues to compete in horseshoes, cribbage, curling, and golf. Graham has
won medals in both prediction cycling and alpine skiing. He believes organizations such as
O.S.G.A.55+ need to promote themselves as the way to grow older gracefully. By keeping fit
we live longer, enjoy life more, and continue to meet like-minded people at our social events.
He said there are more seniors over the age of 65 in Ontario than under the age of 15, so we CORNWALL MOBILE SMALL ENGINE
shouldn’t be alone in our quest to keep fit as we age. Graham is a great promoter of O.S.G.A. 1112 Marleau Ave., Cornwall, ON
55+, District 8. If you are interested in more information about this organization please check 613-361-0017 • www.cornwallmobile.ca
