Athlete of the Month
Owen Belmonte
School: Our Lady of Good Council
Grade: 8 Age: 12
Hometown: Newington
August’s Athlete of the Month excels in both hockey
and football. He also enjoys riding his ATV in his
spare time.
Owen’s hard work and love of sports is paying off,
bringing him to the next level in both hockey and
football. This spring, he experienced his first season
of body contact hockey, playing with the 2005
Prowlers.
“Owen is a great kid and gives 120% during every shift and at every practice. You can’t
teach that,” says hockey coach Al Quenneville. Coach Quenneville also cites Owen’s
drive to succeed as one of his best attributes.
In football, Owen earned team MVP accolades at quarterback and linebacker, leading his
team to the finals in spring competition.
When it comes to school, Owen likes math, and he is currently interested in a career in law
enforcement. This season, he’s suiting up for his fourth NCAFA season with the Wildcats.
