Cornwall Colts Gearing Up for a Strong Season
By Victoria Klassen
he Cornwall Colts 27th season kicks off with
Ttheir home opener on Sept. 6. The Colts will
be playing the Brockville Braves at 7:30 p.m.
Ian MacInnis, head coach of the Colts, will be
attending the Sirius Junior World Cup in Russia
later this month.
“Head Coach Ian MacInnis will be in mid-
season form for the opening of the regular season
thanks to his involvement with the CCHL entry at
the Sirius Junior World Cup in Russia in August,”
explained David Murphy, marketing manager for
the Cornwall Colts. “He’s general manager and
assistant coach for the Canadian team entry.”
Murphy also spoke about some of the players
that fans should keep an eye on this season.
“Cornwall phenom Josh Barnes, who only turns
16 on September 27, is a ‘blue chip’ prospect
who’s already committed to Penn State (NCAA).
Returning Colts Konnor MacCormick, Justin
McRae, David Poirier, and Benjamin Dirven,
along with returning goaltender Mike Carr will all
play significant roles with the Colts this season,”
said Murphy.
“We’re looking forward to having Barnes for a
full season. He averaged just under a point per
game in his limited games with the Colts last
season, including playoffs, as a 15-year-old playing
alongside 20 year olds. Along with the returning
veterans and fresh faces from training camp, we’re
hopeful for a lot of wins this season.” Josh Barnes Photo Icelevel
