Monique and Andy Patenaude
Monique was born and raised in Quebec City. She grew up in an
Air Force family, so travelled around eastern Canada including
Halifax, Montreal, Northern Quebec, and Hull. She worked for
the Federal Government in their I.T. Department in Revenue and
Taxation and then Supply Services. She left the government to
continue her career in private industry until 1994. She and Andy
met at work. They are both “techies”. Andy was a single dad
raising three boys. They married in 1979.
Her hobbies of quilting and golf keep Monique busy year round. $ 2,895
She doesn’t know which one she enjoys the most. Monique and $2,795
installed
Andy have competed in district, regional, provincial, and Canada installed* *
Games. The events she has enjoyed over the years are cribbage, euchre, lawn bowling, 8 ball pool, carpet bowling,
and golf at the district level. Monique has been a board member and our district coordinator in the past. She
convened the Regional Golf Tournament in 2013 when District 8 was the host. She won a gold medal in that
tournament.
Andy was born and raised in Granby, Quebec. He came to Ottawa in 1959 to work for the Federal Government in
the Payroll and Pension Department. When he and Monique first retired they sold their home and belongings and
became first time RV’ers. For six months they would live in Corpus Christi, Texas and the rest of the year in a trailer Serviced Locally
park in Prescott and area. Andy said they met some wonderful people during those years. Their mutual friend Ann

They were hooked.
Andy started competing in 2006 in a Provincial Golf Tournament in Oshawa and two years later, when Monique
was 55 years old, she started to compete. Over the years their total medals include 17 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze.
Andy’s hobbies include golf, curling (Morrisburg Curling Rink), reading, and fishing with his son on Lake Simcoe.
Andy discovered how much fun he could have at OSGA competitions. He tries to recruit new members every year. Medigas
