MOM of the month
Paula McDermid
October’s Mom of the Month is
local television personality and yoga
entrepreneur Paula McDermid. In
addition to owning and operating Love
Yoga in Cornwall, Paula is the mother
of three children: eight-year-old Helaina
and seven-year-old twins Seamus and
Teagan.
The McDermid family is busy pretty
much year-round with a combination of
taekwondo, swimming, gymnastics, and
soccer. In addition to her general duties
as sports mom, Paula is the kids’ soccer
coach.
“I think it’s important for children to
learn to work as a team, to problem
solve, to be tolerant of others, and to
experience success and failure,” she says of sports for young people. Paula
also believes in the importance of education for kids: She serves as the Parent
Council Chair at her children’s school.
Finally, Paula and her staff at Love Yoga spend time working for, and with,
the community. Love Yoga has been involved with both S.A.S.S. and Beyond
21.
