when this year’s Raisin River Canoe Race will be
held. The first of these annual races was held in
1973, and the 30 km course, one of the longest
in Eastern Ontario, begins in St Andrews, passes
through Martintown and the infamous dam, and
finishes in Williamstown.
The first paddlers will take to the water at 10:30
AM next to St Andrews Catholic School, but
people can enjoy a pre-race breakfast served by
the Knights of Columbus in the St Andrews parish
hall as early as 7 AM.
“We typically have around 300 participants,”
says Lissa Deslandes, Regulations Officer and
Communications Director for the Raisin River
Conservation Authority. “It depends a lot on the
weather forecast. We have a lot of folks that join
us year after year no matter what Mother Nature

Hampshire, P.E.I. and Nova Scotia. Paige is committed to her craft and her ultimate goal is to
dance at the world-renowned Tattoo in Edinburgh, Scotland. When Paige isn’t dancing, she 7495538
