Steve Ostler presents “Good Call Ref”
Patrick Dussault
Local hockey referee and retired OPP officer Patrick
Dussault was born in Montreal but has been calling
Cornwall home since 1991. He got his start in officiating
in 1995 when he was asked to ‘help out’ due to a shortage
of adult referees.
The big names Patrick has worked with are impressive. He
can count Eddie Shack, Yvan Cournoyer, Yvon Lambert,
Dave Williams, Keith Acton, and fellow referee Ron WE LOVE FOOTBALL
Hoggart among the people with whom he has worked. He
has officiated several NHL Alumni games.
Patrick enjoys refereeing at all levels of game.
“I did from novice to midget- some charity NHL
Alumni games, exchange games when Sweden
came here for the bantam mini-tournament
with Seaway AA, and there’s something to like
about all of them,” he says.
And the most challenging aspect of being
an official? “Probably the parents with the
coaching staff not far behind,” he says with a
smile.
