       U17 Seaway Valley Blazers See Success at the Gael’s Cup

           his July, the U17 girls’ Seaway
       TValley Blazers Team travelled to
       Kingston, Ontario to compete in the
       Gael’s Cup.
         The girls worked so hard and saw
       incredible success at this tournament.
       The team went undefeated the whole
       weekend against teams from Barrie,
       Lakeshore,  and Newmarket.    They
       managed  to come  home  with the
       gold, and according to Coach Laura
       Contant, they also came home with
       “a whole lot of smiles.”
         This team  plays weekly  in the
       East  Region  Soccer  League and is
       currently sitting in first place in their
       U17/18 Regional division.
         “It’s all about communication and
       teamwork,”  says Contant.  “The
       majority  of this  team  have  been
       playing  together  since  U10.   They
       work hard,  practice  twice  a  week,
       and are all very dedicated.  They are
       a great bunch of girls and they all get
       along very well off the pitch too.”

                                                                                                              This month’s  most valuable player is  Émile
                                                                                                              Beaulieu.  Émile is a talented goaltender and
                                                                                                              defenceman with  the Seaway  Valley Soccer
                                                                                                              Club, U12 “Belgium” squad.

                                                                                                              “Émile  is a dedicated  and talented  athlete
                                                                                                              who also plays  hockey  and soccer  with  the
                                                                                     Coyotes,” says  his coach Jesse  Ferguson.   “He’s a leader among his
                                                                                     teammates in terms of focus and dedication.  He needs very little coaching,
                                                                                     as he knows what to do, especially in the positions of goalie and defence.
                                                                                     Those positions often don’t get as much glory as forward, but Émile’s
                                                                                     great defensive work is extremely valuable to team Belgium.”
