Another season is now in the record books for the Cornwall
Colts. While the season was not successful on the ice, I still enjoyed
heading to the Ed Lumley Arena every Thursday night. Good luck to all
the players as they pursue their hockey dreams.
Pierre Doirion, you blew this one! Trading JG Pageau did not
make any sense in my mind. He is a local “heart and soul” player, who
brings value to the ice, in the dressing room, and in the community. The
big BS line is drafting and developing young players, but the problem
here in Ottawa is keeping them (insert Lazar, Zibanejed, Cici, Puempei,
Cowen, Noesen, Karlesson here). The commitment to spend money to
the cap as the young players develop is bogus in my mind. By trading
Pageau, the message to fans and players is loud and clear: same old,
same old (insert Stone, Turris, Smith, Dzingel, Duchene here). Pageau is
a competitor - he checks all the boxes on a team’s list of qualities looked
for in a player. All he wanted was a raise with a new contract. The Sens
did not think he was worth it, traded him to the Islanders where GM Lou
Lamoriello quickly signed him to a six year, 30-million- dollar contract
extension. My wish for J.G. Pageau: have a great run in the playoffs
with the Islanders. I’m sure your former teammates will be cheering for
you.
Great to see everyone rallying and cheering for Bobby Ryan.
