Cornwall to Ottawa Fall Lacrosse Connection

he Ottawa Capitals, a field

about the upcoming season.
Unlike their counterparts in
the box program, field lacrosse
players compete in the fall.
The Foxes hold a deeply
personal connection to the sport,
as their sons, Jake and Hayden
have both enjoyed years of
playing with the Capitals. After
completing university, Jake
continues to pursue his love of
the sport and has become a part
of the New York Riptides in the
National Lacrosse League.
The Capitals program has seen
many players graduate through
all levels of NCAA, Canadian
University, and professional
lacrosse. This year’s teams
are being coached by both
current and former college and
professional players, including
J.P. Kealey of the Buffalo
Bandits, Ty Thompson, who is

The sport has seen several
changes over the last few
months due to the restrictions
put in place to reduce the spread
of COVID-19. The Capitals
host a youth program annually;
however, this year they have had
to reduce their reach to junior
varsity and varsity level teams.
They have also seen changes in
the amount of games available
this season. Although they
usually play games mainly in
the United States, this year they
will be limited to intra-squad
game simulations and practices
until Stage Two COVID-19
restrictions are lifted. They
have their sights set on a
tournament at Hill Academy in
late November.
