Arts in the Park is back!
One of Cornwall’s favourite music series
is making its return with another great
lineup of free summer concerts in
Lamoureux Park.
Arts in the Park kicks off later this month
and the 2023 series will feature a total of
28 concerts along with the popular outdoor
movie screening.
“We’re really excited about the Arts in the
Park lineup this year,” said Lorne Taillon,
Supervisor, Recreation and Programming
with the City of Cornwall. “We have a
diverse lineup of acts and there is sure to
be something of interest for every music
fan.”
A summer staple for decades, Arts in the
Park features a variety of local entertainers
taking to the Lions Club Bandshell stage in
Lamoureux Park throughout the summer
months. Families are invited to bring their
chairs or blankets and a picnic basket and
enjoy some great local music right along
the waterfront. Best of all,
Leaf and Yard waste
In the summer, the City collects leaf and
yard waste every second week: July 17-
21, July 31- August 4, August 14-18 and
so on.

at the Cornwall Civic Complex as well as
behind the Bandshell.
“It’s a great way to spend time with family
and friends while enjoying our great
waterfront park,” Taillon added.
All performances are weather permitting
and begin at 7 pm unless otherwise noted.

Ontario Winter Games
Legacy Awards
On June 26th, Cornwall City
Council recognized the 2023
Ontario Winter Games Legacy
Award recipients.
Maxwell Hum from St. Joseph's
High School, Ava Bellefeuille from
St. Lawrence High School, and
Lilah Mines from Char-Lan District
High School were presented with a
plaque and signed the Book of
Recognition.
Established in 1994 to support the
objectives of the Ontario Games
Program, the Ontario Winter
Games Legacy Awards aim to
assist in the development of
amateur athletes in Ontario.
The award includes a minimum of
two annual bursaries to a male
and female student who have
demonstrated athletic excellence
in Cornwall and Stormont, Dundas,
and Glengarry communities and
are pursuing post-secondary
studies.
“Each year we are impressed with
the candidates who apply for the
OWG Award, and this year is no
exception. Participating in sports,
school activities, and volunteering
at school and throughout the
community, all while maintaining
impressive academic achievement,
contributes to our communities,”
said Candy Pollard, Ontario Winter
Games Legacy Award Committee
Member.
“The hope is that after their post-
secondary education, many will
return home to Cornwall,
Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry,
where they will no doubt become
the leaders of tomorrow.”
This year, nine schools
participated, and there were 13
candidates. The Selection
Committee collectively
recommended two female
athletes, as they were equally
impressed by their applications.
In the coming fall semester,
Maxwell and Lilah will attend
Queen's University, while Ava will
attend St. Lawrence College.
City Council congratulates these
exceptional athletes for their
achievements and wishes them
success in their future endeavours.
