Stories And More About The People In Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry
It’s time to dust off the sterling silver Lombardi trophy and predict who will be
the NFL’s Super Bowl winner this year?
Jake Lapierre - Conditioning Coach -Oh, what a wonderful time of year it is; days are a little cooler, mosquitoes are fading away, trees
are transforming into tapestries of color, the Cornwall Colts are back on the ice and playing some entertaining hockey, and the NFL
football season is underway!
Figuring out a Superbowl championship prediction this early in the season from thirty-two NFL teams is a shot in the dark but here goes;
sure, there are teams that can be ruled out as potential contenders as they’re struggling to put together a competitive squad. However, five
weeks into the season, there are several teams raising odd makers eyebrows.
Early on, Vegas had the Kansas City Chiefs repeating last seasons performance with another Super Bowl Championship this season
however, the Chiefs dropped game one to Detroit and since then, the Lions got week four started with a decisive 34-20 victory over the
Green Bay Packers. The 3-1 Lions are looking like solid contenders; with the win, Detroit has taken a commanding lead in the NFC North
standings.
Teams are very evenly matched so here is my shot in the dark; teams including the Chiefs, currently in the running to win this seasons
Superbowl championship include the 49ers, the Eagles, the Bills, the Lions, and Dolphins. My Superbowl Championship prediction this
season is going to the Detroit Lions.
Jim Riddell - Seaway Karate Club - The Kansas City Chiefs have won the Super Bowl twice in the past four years but making it three
in five won’t be easy. They are still among the top teams in the league along with Dallas, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. There are a few
teams with lesser odds that have a legitimate chance of pulling an upset. The Detroit Lions finished last season strong and are an improved
team. The Buffalo Bills were 13-3 last season and are a maturing team that has made some off-season improvements. San Francisco is
a very solid team with a flexible offence and a great defence and after several years of playoff disappointment, I think that it will be the
49ers that will win the Super Bowl.
Peter Collins - Sports Enthusiast - My Super Bowl prophecy was written up and ready to be handed in when tragedy struck. Well
maybe it wasn’t a tragedy, but a re-write was certainly required! All because of a six-inch tendon that belongs to a thirty-nine-year-old
quarterback named Aaron Rodgers. My prediction and Jet’s fans Super Bowl aspirations were done-in by a ruptured band of tissue that
attaches your calf muscles to your heel. Ok, back to the drawing board. There are many contenders this year, with all the changes during
the NFL off season it’s a difficult task to predict the eventual Super Bowl winner. Kansas City must be a favourite, but it’s so challenging
to repeat as a winner so that decreases their odds of winning. Buffalo and Cincinnati are in the championship picture because you would
think that super talented Josh Allen or Joe Burrow would eventually lead one of these two capable teams to the title. There are a few long
shots to consider, Trevor Lawrence and his upstart Jaguars look like they’ll contend within the next year or two. If Tua Tagovailoa stays
healthy, the Dolphins will be strong challengers for the title, but with his history of concussions, that’s a big if. All of that being said, I think
the Forty-Niners, led by Brock Purdy, will take the Lombardi this year. Yes, it’s the same Brock Purdy that was done in by ulnar collateral
ligament injury last year. So hopefully Purdy will stay injury free and fulfill my prediction of a 49ers victory!
