said Christine Ouderkirk. “When it comes down
to it, at the end of the day, we support what he
wants to do.”
Adds Ouderkirk’s father, Tim, “He was glad
to come home, he did miss it. At that age, he is
still pretty young to be away from home, but it
was a good opportunity. We don’t get into talking
hockey that much; he knows what’s going on
there. We just talk about other things. He matured
quite a bit.”
Says Heather Verville, “As always, we have
told Eric that he has to have fun, but it takes a
huge family commitment, to the sport, to support
your child when he lives far away. He is loving
and appreciating all the opportunities he is getting
and we remind him that anything is possible if
you work hard enough to get it.”
