         Tony Luis Named One of

        Canada’s Top Five Boxers

         By Jim Riddell

ony Luis has been named as one of the top five pound-for-pound
Tfighters in Canada by Standing8count.com, a website which covers
boxing in Canada. Being chosen as one the top five of approximately two
hundred active professional boxers in Canada is a notable accomplishment.
The pound-for-pound ranking is one which has been long used in the

combative arts to rank fighters regardless of which weight class they may
        be in.

There are a dozen boxing weight classes ranging from the 122 lb super
bantamweights up to the heavyweight division at 201 plus lbs. Several
factors are used to determine the pound-for-pound ranking including the
fighter’s skill and ability, both offensive and defensive, ring generalship,
        and quality of opposition.

The other four fighters chosen were 1) world light heavyweight
champion Adonis Stevenson 2) former IBF Champ David Lemieux
        3) Yves Ulysse and 4) Custio Clayton. Fight fans in Cornwall would
remember the former Canadian Olympian Clayton from last April at the
Civic Complex. Clayton scored a 1st round KO in the fight just before
Tony Luis’s stoppage of Noe Nunez in the main event.

Tony has nothing confirmed as of right now, but his next fight is being
actively worked on and he hopes to have an announcement sometime
        soon.
