Marlene Neal
Marlene was born and raised in Cardinal. She and her
husband, Ivan, moved to Brockville where they raised their
two children. Marlene studied at South Grenville High
School in Prescott and then the Brockville Campus of St.
Lawrence College in the Office Administrative Executive
Assistant Course. This diploma led her to work in the office
of transport companies over the years. Her love of cooking
also led her to the Food Industry as a second career

and Brockville Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary for twenty-two
years; twelve as president. She was also associated with the
Boy Scouts’ committee when her husband, Ivan, was a leader and their son, Mike, was a scout. Marlene
has volunteered with two fundraising committees. One was the Brockville Addiction Foundation for a
new centre and the other one was for the purchase of a Jaws of Life for the Brockville Fire Department.
During Marlene’s relaxing time she and her daughter, Terri Fisher, enjoy Scrapbooking. She said it Serviced Locally

55+ District 8, after a friend brought her to competitions in 2009 in darts, cribbage, and euchre. She
became Secretary in 2010, and then after Monique Dawkes retired in 2013, Marlene assumed the district
co-ordinator role. This is a vital board position. As D.C. you have to successfully liaise between District
8 members, Head Office, Provincial, and Regional committees. Marlene does all this and more. Medigas

Throughout her OSGA years and her Legion years she said how much she learned from spending time
with seniors. She learned about history and life just by listening to their experiences. The OSGA, District 613-936-0125
