remarkable, positive local sports success January’s MVP of the Month, Kayla Donnelly, was nominated
by her Cornwall Atom B Typhoons coach Michelle Guay:
“Since the day I first saw Kayla playing hockey, I could see
stories, from all ages, young and old. she had that extra edge that made her a standout player. She
has the dedication and determination to be a great athlete at
whatever sport she chooses to play. She continues to push

goes.”
Coach Guay has high praise for this MVP of the Month’s play
Gord Shaver Guy Lalonde at a recent tournament in Peterborough. “Kayla won Player of
the Game not only because she played an amazing game that
day, but also because of her will and determination never to give up.
“She was on the receiving end of a lot of frustration from the opposition as their tactic was to
frustrate our stronger players. Kayla was down and out, and we had a heart-to-heart on the bench
about never giving up. Kayla went on her next shift and scored with 4 seconds left in the 2nd
period, sealing the game for the win. It was a moment in coaching I will always remember, and I
was very proud of the way she persevered and finished the game with a positive outlook!”
