Q&A Hi JR,
My question is how many hours do pro hockey players commit to off-ice training during the hockey season?
Great question. The answer is far more often than you think. The focus in the off-ice component is on player health and longevity. Preventing injury.
Guys are in the weight room every single day. There are different focus points; be it recovery work, extra conditioning, or strength maintaining lifts. We lift after
almost every game that is not back-to-back. So the time spent in frequent but focused. There is a term called micro dosing that becomes very effective in season.
Small continual doses of training that over a long period of time account for a large change in effect.
