time skating coach, Daniel Lapierre.
Dan says, “Alina is in her first year
of skating with Skate Cornwall. She
has been working hard to improve her
gliding skills and is even starting to
skate backwards.” Last month, Alina
received a ribbon for control, and she
is extremely proud of it. Keep up the

Athlete of the Month
Noah Whyte
Age: 18
Grade: 12
School: School: Holy Trinity CHS
Hometown: Cornwall
January’s Athlete of the Month, Noah Whyte,
is a kickboxing silver medalist at the national
level. Noah currently trains at Apeiron MMA
in Cornwall. Noah can be found at the gym
three to four times per week. When he’s not
training, he’s coaching the younger athletes.
“Mixed martial arts make me a better person,”
says Noah. “It brings structure to my life.” Noah has been training and competing
in combat arts for about two-and-a-half years. This month, he’ll be taking his
training to the next level as he prepares to compete at the Ontario Winter Games
Sanda tournament under the auspices of Wushu Canada. Sanda, also known as
Sanchou, is a Chinese form of kickboxing.
