Sports Mom”
Susan Snape
October’s Mom of the Month is Susan Snape.
Susan is a busy sports mom who is involved
with her children’s athletics in interesting
ways. “In addition to the usual hockey mom
activities,” she explains, “I also started
playing music at my children’s minor hockey
home games and really enjoyed it. I am
now also the music player for the Char- Lan
Rebels Junior B home games.”
Susan’s children, Erin McCready (19), Lauren
McCready (16), and Ryan McCready (almost
15), have kept her busy over the years with
figure skating, soccer, and hockey. Susan is a past-
president of the Char-Lan Figure Skating Club.
A devoted hockey, skating, and soccer mom, Susan and her family have put many
miles on the family car travelling to sporting events in the sun, rain, hail, sleet, and
snow. “We participated in numerous team fundraisers,” she says, “as well as manned
the Char-Lan Skating Club Ice Cream Booth at the Williamstown Fair for many years.”
Presently working in clinical research and the monitoring of oncology clinical trials,
Susan was involved in individual sports growing up: gymnastics and diving. “I love
watching my family skate but am dangerous on skates, to myself and others,” she
says. “We value sports for the healthy lifestyle they promote, as well as for the positive
values they teach such as accountability, teamwork, and respect.”
