in competition closed with a
12-team playoff taking place
on Friday, December 5th. The
team skipped by Paul Proulx,
with Peter Van Loon at the 3rd
position, Ron McMillan at 2nd,
and Ray Baker filling the lead
position finished with 12 points,
edging out the second-place
team skipped by Tony Greene
by just one point. Finishing in
third place was the team skipped
by Wayne Lauber.
On the Professional World the playoffs going 1 and 3 in the
Curling Tour, the John Epping round robin.
Team, with Cornwall’s Mat
Camm playing 2nd, participated
in a WCT event in Penticton, BC
going 5 wins and no losses in the
round robin. They advanced to
the quarter final playing against
Team Whyte from Scotland.
Team Epping came up short
and was eliminated from further
play. The team moved on to
the Canada Cup the following
week in Leduc, Alberta with
an Olympic Trials spot on the
line. The Epping team record
in the round robin was 4 wins
and 2 losses. The losses came
at the hands of Team Koe and
Team Botcher. Team Epping
advanced to the semi final,
playing Botcher. Team Epping
was not to be denied in the
playoff as they handed Botcher a
convincing 12-4 loss. On to the
final against Team Koe - this was
a well-played game with both
teams making some excellent
shots. Team Epping entered the
10th end with a 7-4 lead and
ran Koe out of rocks, winning
the Canada Cup and that spot
in the Olympic Qualifier. This
