Whistle Stops
The “Team” has just completed Issue # 86, and as always, I
would like to thank Lynn (Graphic Design), Carrie (Editor), Bernadette
(Website), our writers Molly, Victoria, Thom, Casey, Jim, Robert, and
our editorial columnists Jim, Jorge, Dave, Peter, Justin, Perry, and
Alex. Thank you to Gilles, Jake, and Jim of The Sports Panel, Rene our
distribution manager, and Gord our ad salesman. Special thanks go out
to our distribution locations, our advertisers, and, of course, the people
who are featured in our stories. I hope you enjoy # 86!
A new year already! A toast to 2020, and some sports wishes of
mine:
That the Seaway Valley Major Peewee AA Rapids not only win
the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup, but that hockey coach and dad Pete
Seguin gets a match for his kidney and a successful transplant is done.
That the Junior A Colts attendance increases in 2020 and they
are successful in making the playoffs.
That the Wildcats football program continues to turn out
university-bound players.
That there is increased interest and registration numbers for all
sports organizations in the area.
That participants of youth sports groups take the time to thank
a volunteer coach, manager, or executive for their commitment and hard
work.
That local high school sports teams continue to be a large part
of student life.
That the hard work of staff at Parks & Rec. and Cornwall Tourism
continues to attract impressive sporting events to our area.
That all of the curlers coming to Cornwall on Jan 27th for the
2020 Ontario Curling Championships experience success.
Winners Never Quit, and Quitters Never Win,
‘Signing out until next month,’
Mike Piquette, Publisher
