Homan and Epping Teams 2020 Ontario
Provincial Curling Champions

fabulous week of curling took

somewhat expected end on the
weekend of February 1st and 2nd. A
couple of the top teams in the curling
world punched their ticket to their
respective National Championships,
that being the Scotties Tournament
of Hearts and the Tim Horton’s Brier. March.
On the women’s side, Team
Rachel Homan with a perfect round
robin record of 8-0 went directly to
Sunday’s final. Hollie Duncan and
Jestyn Murphy ended the round robin
with identical 5-3 records and had
to play a tie breaker early Saturday
morning to earn a spot in the semis.
Duncan defeated Murphy and earned
a spot in the 1pm semi-final against
2nd place Danielle Inglis. Again
Duncan was successful to find herself
in the Saturday evening final against
the well-rested Rachel Homan. A
tired Team Duncan entering their 3rd
game in one day gave Team Homan
all they could handle, staying in
the game right to the end; however
Homan prevailed 7-6, earning her
ticket to the Scotties tournament
of Hearts National Championships
taking place in Saskatchewan in mid-
February.
On the men’s side, John Epping
also went 8-0 in the round robin to
earn a well-deserved rest on Saturday
and going directly to Sunday’s final.
Team Howard finishing in 2nd place
with a 6-2 record had to play a
semi-final on Saturday against Scott
McDonald. Team Howard scored a
couple of 4 enders and a 3 ender to
completely dominate the match, and
McDonald conceded victory after the
8th end. In the men’s final, Epping
started strong scoring a 3 ender in

score 8-3 in favour of Team Epping

conceded the Provincial title to
