Fishin’ with Nino Marcantonio
By: Molly Kett
9-year-old Nino Marcantonio was
5born in Ottawa, but he moved
to live near Monkland nearly five
years ago. He says that this was the
best move he could have made, as
for the first three years living near
Monkland, he and his wife went
fishing on the St Lawrence River
almost every weekend. Clearly, he’s
passionate about the sport.
“One of the best things about
fishing is being outside on the water.
I really enjoy fishing from shore as
well,” says Marcantonio. “It’s a very
peaceful sport, especially early in the
morning when the mist is lifting off
the water and you take that first cast.
The fun starts. When you get a hit on
your line.”
Now, though, Marcantonio no
