Fishing with Liam Lavallee

Oyou can any age to enjoy it. Just ask 11-year-
old Liam Lavallee, who just finished grade five at
Notre Dame School, located in Cornwall. With
summer out, Lavallee is ready to hit the water and
see what he can catch.
“Fishing is my favourite summer sport that I
enjoy after ice hockey and ball hockey finish for
the season,” says Lavallee.
Lavallee had an interest in fishing from a very
young age. His earliest fishing memory, though
not that long ago, took place while spending time
with his dad on the water.
When trying to recall his very first fishing
memory, Lavallee says it was “probably watching
[his] dad fish off the docks at [their] campground.
I remember sitting on his tackle box watching him
fish.”
While this might be his earliest memory, he says
that he has plenty of other great fishing memories.
“I have lots of great fishing memories, most
involve my dad taking me and my friends out in
the boat to try different fishing slots along the St.
Lawrence,” says Lavallee.
Though he’s still in his early years of fishing, he
still knows where he likes to fish best.
“One of my favourite places to fish would be
west of Hamilton Island,” says Lavallee. “You are
guaranteed to catch something in that area, even if
it’s just weeds.”
